Our Kitchen Renovation Process
From first call to finished kitchen — here’s exactly what happens, when, and why. No surprises. No hidden steps. Just a clear path to your dream kitchen.
Good Kitchen Renovations Aren’t Luck.
They Come From a Clear Process.
Most renovation headaches come from vague communication and unclear expectations. Our process is built to eliminate both. Every client knows exactly what’s happening, who’s responsible, and what comes next — from the moment you call us to the day we hand over the keys.
We’re a small, local Newcastle team. That means you deal with the same people from quote to completion — no subcontractors, no surprises mid-project. Want numbers first? The design stage is covered in more detail on our kitchen design page.
The 6-Step Kitchen Renovation Process
Each step is designed to protect your time, budget, and sanity.
Free Consultation Call
We start with a no-obligation phone or video call to understand your vision, rough budget, and timeframe. We’ll answer your questions honestly — including whether your budget aligns with your goals — and schedule an in-home measure-up if we’re a good fit.
In-Home Measure-Up & Design Brief
One of our senior kitchen designers visits your home to take precise measurements, assess plumbing and electrical positions, and review your existing layout. We discuss cabinetry styles, benchtop materials, splashback options, and appliance preferences — with real samples to touch and compare.
Fixed-Price Quote & 3D Design
We turn your brief into a detailed, itemised fixed-price quote — no estimates, no “subject to change” clauses. Every line item is listed: cabinetry, benchtops, splashback, plumbing, electrical, labour, and project management. Alongside the quote, you receive a 3D render of your new kitchen so you can visualise the final result before committing.
Scheduling & Material Ordering
Once you approve the quote and sign the contract, we lock in your start date, order all materials, and confirm subcontractor schedules (if applicable for electrical or plumbing). We handle every supplier relationship, delivery coordination, and council approval (if required for structural changes). You receive a project timeline with weekly milestones.
Construction & Installation
Your dedicated project manager oversees every day of construction. Demolition, structural work, plumbing and electrical rough-in, cabinet installation, benchtop templating and fitting, tiling, and final fit-off all follow a sequenced schedule. You receive a progress photo update every 2 days. Our team treats your home with respect — drop sheets, dust barriers, and daily site clean-ups are standard.
Final Inspection & Handover
We conduct a detailed final inspection together, working through a 40-point checklist that covers every surface, fitting, appliance function, and finish quality. Any items identified in the walkthrough are rectified before we consider the job complete. You receive your compliance certificates, warranty documentation, and care instructions for all surfaces and appliances.
Typical Project Timeline
Every project is different — here’s what most Newcastle homeowners experience.
* Budget kitchens (cosmetic only) typically complete in 3–4 weeks. Luxury kitchens with structural changes may take 8–10 weeks. Your project schedule will show exact milestones from day one.

Any defect that appears within 12 months is rectified at our cost. We stand behind every job we complete.
Process FAQs
Can I still use my kitchen during the renovation?
During demolition and installation (typically 2–4 weeks), your kitchen will be inaccessible. We recommend setting up a temporary kitchen in the laundry or dining room — we can advise on this during consultation. We keep disruption to a minimum and give you advance notice of the days you’ll be fully without kitchen access.
What if I change my mind about a material after signing?
Minor changes before materials are ordered are usually accommodated at no cost. Once materials have been ordered, changes may incur a variation cost — we’ll always get your written approval and a revised price before proceeding. This is rare when the design brief process has been thorough.
How far in advance do I need to book?
Our current lead time is typically 4–8 weeks from signed contract to construction start, depending on the season and material availability. We recommend contacting us 2–3 months before your ideal start date. Call us to check current availability — popular spring and summer slots fill quickly.
Do I need to be home during the renovation?
No — most of our clients are at work during the day. We arrange key or access code access at the start of the project. Your project manager will keep you updated and contact you only if a decision needs to be made. We secure the site at the end of every day.
